In 2018, the Interfraternity Council adopted conduct standards for students to receive a bid for membership from an IFC fraternity. The IFC Constitution and By-laws state:
“Undergraduate men are ineligible to pledge a fraternity if they are currently on disciplinary probation or deferred suspension status or if they have a case pending involving possible violation of the Sexual Misconduct Policy or another serious student conduct matter."
Additionally, any previously issued disciplinary suspension shall deem the student ineligible to join a fraternity. By submitting a recruitment registration, the potential member is consenting to a search of university records by Community Values & Restorative Practices and to their disclosure of any potential members who have a disqualifying record.
During the recruitment registration period, undergraduate men will be afforded the opportunity to self-disclose any conduct history while attending Â鶹Æƽâ°æ or a previous institution in the case of a transfer student. In addition, students will be asked to consent to a review of their Â鶹Æƽâ°æ Conduct Record in order to determine eligibility. The details of the record WILL NOT be released to anyone beyond Student Accountability & Restorative Practices.
The only information that will be communicated to chapters is whether the potential new member meets or does not meet the eligibility standard above.
If a student does not meet the IFC-established GPA requirements, the student may petition the IFC Conduct Board for an exemption. Petitions must come from the sponsoring chapter and only one chapter can sponsor a petitioner. Petitions should be submitted to the IFC VP Community Values at [[ifc]] at the same time as submitting their Bid List.
Upon receipt, the IFC VP Community Values will notify both the petitioner and their sponsoring chapter of the time assigned to them. If you're unable to appear at that time, there may be some flexibility.
