Chapter Overview & History
Founded on March 9, 1856, at the University of Alabama, Sigma Alpha Epsilon was established on the belief that a fraternity should foster integrity, achievement, and enduring brotherhood. Today, SAE continues that mission through chapters across the country.

Philanthropy & Service
Paddy Murphy Week (NMDP): Our staple annual philanthropy event unites our brothers against blood cancer in support of the National Marrow Donor Program. In 2026, we hosted a campus educational session, an on-site cheek-swab registration drive, and a philanthropy kickball tournament to raise vital funds and add life-saving donors to the national registry.
Movember: Movember is an annual global charity event held in November where participants grow mustaches to raise awareness and funds for men’s health. We proudly support Movember’s efforts through growing mustaches, logging miles, raising funds, and using our platform to combat the men's mental health crisis and support cancer research.

Member Testimonials
"When I first joined SAE during the spring semester of my freshman year, I was looking for a group of people who would push me outside of my comfort zone and introduce me to experiences beyond the communities I was already a part of. What I found was a group of brothers who support me in every aspect of my life, encouraging me to become the best version of myself. Beyond the opportunities for leadership and personal growth, I've built lifelong friendships and made countless memories through social events, campus involvement, and everyday moments with my brothers. Knowing that I have people I can rely on has made my college experience far more meaningful. I am truly grateful for the impact the Virginia Kappa Chapter has had on my life, and I strive each day to live by the ideals of the True Gentleman.”
