When looking at colleges, Eva sought a place that would stretch her mind but also allow her to make a tangible, immediate impact. She found exactly that community within the W&M Stamps 1693 Scholars program. Embracing a love for both structural analysis and creative expression, she shaped a distinct academic path as a government and English double major. 

On campus, Eva weaves together advocacy and artistry, serving as a research fellow for the International Justice Lab, leading community outreach for and managing finances for the . She didn’t stop there. She also edits the opinions section for and tutors local families through the Aprendiendo Juntos Project. Her work centers on ensuring that diverse voices are elevated and heard.

Her commitment to human rights took on a global dimension when she traveled to Hoi An, Vietnam, as a Freeman Fellowship intern with STREETS International to teach public health and English. That journey, combined with grassroots field research in Argentina, solidified her dedication to educational outreach and set her sights more firmly on a potential career in humanitarian law. 

“During my study abroad experiences, I worked with underprivileged youth. Not only did I learn firsthand what it is like to work with human rights organizations, I gained confidence in my teamwork and communication skills. I also became more proficient in speaking Spanish and found a way to bridge the language barrier through singing and dancing.”
