When considering healthy relationships, there is one that college students sometimes fail to address.  Your relationship with alcohol, tobacco, and other substances can potentially influence your ability to engage in healthy behaviors. Ultimately, it comes down to informed choices, and below are some of our resources to help you make those decisions wisely.

Alcohol

Alcohol may be used in a healthy manner or in a way that causes problems, including addiction. Though legal to consume at 21, it's not risk-free. Federal and State law, as well as W&M policy, prohibit the use of alcohol to those under the age of 21.

Events with Alcohol Training

Student organizations planning an event with alcohol are required to have one representative present who has completed this training. Event planning meetings are also required.

Cannabis

Though legalized in certain forms in Virginia, Federal law still prohibits the use, possession, or cultivation of cannabis. As a federally funded institution, we remain in compliance with the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act.

REVIVE! Naloxone Training

In partnership with the Virginia Department of Health, we provide an Opioid Overdose and Naloxone Education program. This training helps you to identify an opioid overdose and administer Naloxone in the event of an emergency.
