How to Activate Accommodations

All students will need to activate their accommodations at the beginning of each semester to ensure that their current professors for the semester are notified of their accommodations. We encourage students to submit their activation request once their course schedule is finalized. If a student adds or drops a course after submitting their activation request, it is their responsibility to submit a new request to ensure the new professor is notified.

Steps to activate your accommodations for the semester

Step 1: Log in to your .

Step 2: You will see options listed on the left side of your Accommodate homepage. These options will include Accommodation, Documents, Resources, Calendar, Profile, and if you receive certain accommodations like Testing Accommodations, a tab entitled Testing Room will also appear on the left side of your homepage. If you do not see the tabs on the left side of the screen, select the three stacked lines in the top left corner to open the side bar.

Step 3: Select to the Accommodation option. A drop-down menu will appear, including the options Accessibility Request, Supplemental, Accommodation Activation Request, and Accessibility LettersAccommodation Activation Step 2

Step 4: Select the Accommodation Activation Request option. On this page, ensure that you are on the Accommodation Activation Request tab, and then select the green Add New button to add a new activation request.Accommodation Activation Step 3

Step 5The accommodations you have been approved will be listed in a blue-tinted box. After selecting the current semester using the drop-down semester selection, you can select to submit your request for all accommodations or review the renewal. 

  • Submitting for all accommodations will create a semester request for any accommodation that is available to be activated. This will send all academic accommodations to all of your current professors
  • Reviewing the renewal allows you to customize which courses and professors you would like each of your academic accommodations to go to. 

Both options  will  result in activating your accommodations once you complete this action.

Step 6: Once you submit your accommodation activation request, your accommodations will be listed below the green Add New button along with the dates for the corresponding semester, and the date the activation request was completed. Any previously activated accommodations for prior semesters will also be visible.

Accommodation Activation Step 5Step 7SAS staff will send out your accommodation letter to you and notify your professors to log into their Faculty Portal and see your accommodations listed in an electronically secure location. Students will receive both a copy of the letter their professors receive, as well as a separate renewal letter. If students have housing, dining, or transportation accommodations, they will receive separate letters for each accommodation type.

Step 8Please be sure to communicate with each of your professors to talk about how your accommodations will be implemented in the course.

 Please let SAS staff know if you have any difficulty with any of these steps, or if you or any of your professors haven't received your accommodation letter.
