We take the safety of our students, faculty and staff very seriously. Before you travel or consider traveling, it is your responsibility to review and understand the potential risks involved. 

International Travel Policy & ITRC

Under the Policy for Travel to University Travel Advisory Countries all students, undergraduate and graduate, must check the W&M Travel Risk Rating below for each country prior to engaging in international travel to see if the destination is restricted or if there is a W&M Advisory that requires and application and further review by the International Travel Review Committee (ITRC).  

Restricted Destinations

Restricted Destinations comprise those countries currently prohibited due to extreme health, safety or security risks. University-related travel for undergraduate students is prohibited. Students cannot be required to participate in activities in this destination. Regular (annual) educational programs may be suspended and subject to further review or evaluation. Evacuation of undergraduate students is required (and may be necessary for graduate or professional students as well as faculty and staff). Current Restricted Destinations are listed below:

W&M Travel Risk Warnings

Below is a list of countries (in alphabetical order), that are under W&M warning or alert. When you click on a country name, a drop-down menu will appear showing links to any alerts or warnings from the U.S. State Department and/or Centers for Disease Control (CDC). We try to keep this information as up-to-date as possible, but for the most current information and health advice, visit the  and  websites. 

Countries designated as W&M advisory only take into account health and safety conditions, not entry requirements.

The ITRC has reviewed all the countries and through careful vetting, faculty input, U.S. and other government resources and security provider analysis has determined that the following destinations merit a W&M travel advisory. The ITRC reserves the right to add or remove a country from this list based on a regularly monthly review or more frequently should circumstances dictate.
