Group Expiration

Teams are created within Microsoft Office 365 Groups. By default, Groups will expire after one year of inactivity. However, Group owners will have the option to keep the Group active beyond that time period.

When the group expires, so do all the documents associated with the Group - including documents stored in Teams.

For that reason, Teams should only be used as a short-term storage solution. Use Box, Network Storage Drives, or OneDrive for long-term storage.

Data Recovery Period

There is a 30-day data recovery window after the Group expires.
