Biography

Growing up in the beaches and deserts of San Diego, California, Julia Peavey ’28 has always had a deep appreciation of natural spaces and the communities which share them. Her passion for conserving these environments exists alongside strong interests in public health, medicinal chemistry, and science writing. As a Neuroscience major, Julia brings an interdisciplinary perspective to her work and is committed to advancing accessible and equitable approaches to both human and environmental health. She has gained research experience in psychology, chemistry, and anthropology, cultivating a broad understanding of the connections between ecosystem resilience and human well-being.

She is excited to work with the Institute for Integrative Conservation and values the opportunity to learn from Indigenous sustainability perspectives. Julia plans to pursue a Ph.D. in Neuroscience while continuing to engage in environmentally focused, community-driven initiatives.
