Biography

Isabella Madden ’27 is a History and International Relations major from Arlington, Virginia. Due to her parents’ careers, she grew up in eight countries across four continents, an international upbringing that exposed her to diverse landscapes and environmental practices and sparked her interest in how communities interact with their natural surroundings. Isabella is drawn to the intersections of people, politics, and the environment, with particular interests in Indigenous history and sustainable agriculture. Through the Institute for Integrative Conservation, she looks forward to exploring these themes further.

On campus, Isabella works with the Office of Civic & Community Engagement, participating in service projects focused on sustainable and regenerative agriculture. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, spending time outdoors, and caring for her many houseplants. After graduation, Isabella hopes to continue her studies and pursue a career in environmental immigration law and policy or work with the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
