Professional Development Awards
Students can apply for a Professional Development Award from the Global Research Institute if they are 1) presenting research at a conference; or 2) traveling for a meeting or to an archive related to their research. Their research must be directly related to a GRI-funded research project or GRI student program (Summer Fellows, Global Scholars, or Student Innovation). Students may apply for up to $1,000 of funding to support their travel in support of their research. Travel must take place before June 30, 2027.
If you are presenting at a conference, you will need to upload:
- Conference abstract
- Proof of acceptance to the conference (this may be an email from the organizers, or a screenshot of the conference program)
If you are traveling for a meeting, you will need to upload:
- One-page justification of the travel. How is this travel related to your research project? Why is this meeting necessary? What are the goals of the meeting? What will be the next steps following your meeting?
