A toolkit for W&M students to flex their civic muscles

Whether you’ve voted, volunteered, contacted an elected official, or donated blood, your civic actions matter. The Civic Action Scorecard is a toolkit of 75+ opportunities to participate in democracy and civic leadership and be recognized for your efforts.

Civic Action Awards

Each time you record an action you earn points which are displayed on our . As the points add up, you will receive Civic Action Awards and rewards.

• To receive an award, you must have completed at least one action in each of the five action categories. 
• Awards are conferred annually based on your point total as of April 1 of that year.

Frequently Asked Details

• You can record any action you’ve taken while a Â鶹Æƽâ°æ student, which includes retroactively recording actions from earlier in your Â鶹Æƽâ°æ career or actions taken while not on campus but while a student.
• Points are cumulative and can be earned across your time as a Â鶹Æƽâ°æ student.
• Most actions can only be counted once. Those that can be repeated are noted on the Scorecard.
• Anyone is welcome to promote the scorecard at their event/program including naming how their event “counts” toward one of the actions and can earn students points. 

 

Group Recognitions

Civic life is a collective endeavor. These are a few ways groups can participate and be rewarded together.

Residence Halls If 60% of a residence hall (e.g. Spotswood third upper) earns 15 civic action points between August 25 and November 25, that hall will receive a civic celebration (pizza party!) at the end of the semester.  The top three most civically active halls (#points/resident) will receive additional reward and all halls are able to unlock surprise prizes along the way (swag, snacks, and more).
