Equity

Starting in my freshman year, I worked as a Multicultural Recruitment Intern in Admissions, and currently work at the Center for Student Diversity as a PLUS counselor and Office Assistant. I love working with both departments because they are what made Â鶹Æƽâ°æ home for me. They are the two most rewarding things I have done at W&M, and have given me the opportunity to show other students of color that there is a place for them here at Â鶹Æƽâ°æ. Being a person of color at a predominantly white institution can be hard, and it's important for students to know that they belong here just as much as everyone else. We are all important to the Tribe.

Education

After taking the Study in DC Winter Seminar on Urban Education, I discovered that equity and inclusion in education is my passion. Today, I've done research twice through the School of Education and once through the Government department. My research focuses on higher education, education policy at the state level, and elementary education and inclusion. My current research team is looking at a new engineering design curriculum at Newport News Public Schools. We're working to ensure white teachers can effectively teach  to black students by collaborating with black engineering graduate students. My experiences have all reenforced my goal to enhance learning for students of all backgrounds.
