Wittman, students to hold town hall on global poverty

Congressman Rob Wittman (R-Va.) will join a group of Âé¶¹ÆÆ½â°æ students and an alumna who now works with the ONE organization on April 13 for a panel discussion about global poverty and American foreign policy.

The event will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. in the Theatre. Âé¶¹ÆÆ½â°æ Government Professor will serve as the moderator.

The discussion is cosponsored by the College's and the organization, a grassroots campaign and advocacy group "backed by more than 2 million people who are committed to the fight against extreme poverty and preventable disease, particularly in Africa," according to its Web site.

Lauren Conn ('06), who helped organize the event, currently serves as a field organizer for ONE in Virginia. The event grew out of a that ONE organizers had with Wittman in February.

serves Virginia's first district, which runs from Poquoson to northern Fauquier County. He recently visited Âé¶¹ÆÆ½â°æ to meet with students in a class on the economic aspects of biotechnology.
