Background
Jonah Goldwater’s primary research areas are in metaphysics, meaning in life, and PPE (philosophy, politics, and economics).
He has been at Âé¶¹ÆÆ½â°æ since 2014, where he regularly teaches courses on the philosophy of freedom, the meaning of life, critical thinking, and metaphysics. He has also taught ethics, the philosophy of mind, the philosophy of technology, and various introductory surveys, both contemporary and historical.
He is currently a W. Taylor Reveley III Interdisciplinary Faculty Fellow, awarded for co-creating the course “Cultivating wisdom” with Prof. Michael Luchs (Business).
In addition to his philosophy Ph.D., Prof. Goldwater has an MBA from the Mason School of Business. He co-created and has taught an interdisciplinary internship seminar (INTR 297) on two occasions.
His work includes peer-reviewed publications in journals such as Synthese, American Philosophical Quarterly, the Journal of the History of Philosophy, Analytic Philosophy, the Journal of Business Ethics, the Journal of Ethics and Social Philosophy, Erkenntnis, the Journal of Consciousness Studies, and Philosophia, among others.
Prof. Goldwater is currently the reigning, defending, 2025 Âé¶¹ÆÆ½â°æ Raft Debate Champion of the World.
