Bio
Emily Magness (Cherokee Nation, Shawnee Tribe) is a PhD student with research interests in gender, war, and politics in eighteenth-century Cherokee country. In 2021, Emily received her B.A. in History from Wellesley College, where she was a founding member of the Native American Student Association. She received her M.A. from Âé¶¹ÆÆ½â°æ in 2022, during which she also served as an editorial apprentice and fellow for the Omohundro Institute of Early American History and Culture.Her most recent work focuses on Cherokee cosmology, political decision-making, and gender during the Anglo-Cherokee War. Outside of her graduate work, Emily is passionate about Cherokee language revitalization and public education on Native American history.
