Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies

Gender, Sexuality & Women's Studies at W&M

Combining academics and experiential learning, gender, sexuality & women's studies (GSWS) students critically examine and challenge structural inequalities around gender and sexuality, in interaction with race, class, ethnicity and ability. On the academic side, you are acquainted with current scholarship on women, feminist, trans, queer and sexuality studies. On the experiential side, you have opportunities to engage in activism and are encouraged to undertake your own research projects. You will question norms, work with peers to create community action projects and gain insight into identities in and through a web of relations to others, both globally and locally.
