Bio
Darren Douglas Floyd received his B.A. in Women’s Studies from the College of Wooster in 1994 and his M.F.A. in Film and Media Arts from Temple University in 2001. He is an artist whose studio practice combines 2D and 3D animation, digital drawing and zine production to interrogate masculinity. CancerGram, a 2017 Instagram diary of his cancer experience, is an experimental storytelling practice disseminated through social media. His 2020 social media essay, Drastic Treatment, considers the Donald Trump era through the lens of androgen deprivation therapy. Darren’s recent practice is an attempt to liberate animation from the computer lab, utilizing mobile platforms for site-specific and en plein air animation. His current project, GF, is an album of short experimental animations and zines. Darren teaches experimental video and animation courses as Assistant Teaching Professor of Film and Media Studies at Â鶹Æƽâ°æ.
