Majoring in Chemistry
The undergraduate program in the Department of Chemistry offers a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree and prepares students for a variety of career paths. Our graduates pursue careers in research, healthcare, education, industry, government, law, and science communication, while many continue on to graduate or professional school.
Students begin with foundational chemistry courses before exploring organic, physical, inorganic, and analytical chemistry. Advanced coursework, research experiences, and elective options allow students to customize their degree and explore their interests.
Research is a key part of the chemistry experience at Â鶹Æƽâ°æ. Many students work alongside faculty mentors and participate in paid summer research, gaining valuable hands-on experience and preparing for careers or further study.
Students seeking additional depth may pursue an (ACS)-certified degree, which includes specialized coursework and independent research.
