Graduate Program

Program Overview

The Biology graduate program offers a close-knit academic environment leading to an M.S. or M.A. in Biology. Our graduates receive specialized training in their chosen sub-disciplines, along with the communication and teaching skills needed to thrive in the global scientific community.

Research & Faculty

Our graduate students conduct research alongside faculty on diverse topics ranging from molecular genetics to biomath and ecology.

  • Faculty Interests: Explore our faculty directory for specific research areas.

  • Publications: Most students successfully publish their thesis research in highly respected scientific journals.

Financial Support & Career Outcomes 

Full-time students are supported by teaching assistantships and full tuition waivers. While most students complete their master's degree in two years, our program prepares graduates for various high-level paths:

  • Advanced Degrees: Recent graduates are pursuing Ph.D.s at institutions like Duke, UC Davis, Johns Hopkins, and the University of Toronto.

  • Professional Careers: Alumni follow career paths in biotech, pharmaceuticals, resource management, and environmental consulting.

  • Medicine: Many graduates move on to pursue an M.D. degree.
