Mattaponi Reservoir Project: Cultural Properties Assessment
The King William Reservoir in King William County, VA, proposed flooding over 1,500 acres, including hundreds of acres of wetlands and traditional gathering grounds. For the Mattaponi Cultural Properties Assessment (1999), the AIRC utilized archaeological data, cultural properties assessment, and anthropological fieldwork to assist the Mattaponi tribe in opposing the project.
