Background

I am an archaeologist working with potters and pottery to understand place-based interaction and material culture change. My 2026 dissertation traced changes to Ancestral Pueblo pottery-making following late eleventh-/early twelfth-century migrations from the Mesa Verde region to Chaco Canyon. The dissertation demonstrated how Chaco-area potters adjusted practices and identities in response to a new social situation. I work primarily with museum collections, but I also collaborate with contemporary Pueblo potters on field-based clay sourcing projects and landscape archaeology. As a Postdoctoral Fellow, I teach and mentor W&M students; perform my own research; and help with the management and study of the Â鶹Æƽâ°æ Anthropology Collections.
